Maxfield Rivers is a senior at Westwood High School in Austin, Texas. He was a member of the Westwood Philharmonic orchestra, Chamber choir, and musical theatre program. He has studied classical voice with Dr. Larisa Montanaro, and is currently studying cello with Dr. Rylie Harrod-Corral.
He performed with the Region 26 Mixed Choir in 2019, and competed at the pre-area round of auditions. He received perfect scores at UIL Vocal Solo & Ensemble. In 2020, he was given a Texas Music Scholar award by the Texas Music Educator’s Association. In orchestra, he also earned the senior superlative “Next Mr. Thompson: for musical technique, limitless potential, and dedication to the ensemble.”
He has been featured in the Texas Standard (a Texas Public Radio program) for his podcast covering COVID-19.
